Who we are

BlueNile Exams is published by 10881252 Canada Corporation (Maple Doum). For anything about your privacy: info@naseeh.io.

What we collect

• Your account. When you sign in with Google or Apple: your email address, your name if the provider shares it, and an account ID we create. You can use the student side without an account; we then use a random ID made on your device.
• Teachers. Your display name, school and country; the classes and student names you add, typed or read from a photo of a class list; photos of answer papers, answer keys and teaching material you take or choose; the marks, your corrections, and the results you publish to your class.
• Students. The answers you type or draw, your notes, study time and progress, synced to your account when you are signed in. If you use Blue, the assistant: your questions and the exam page you are on.
• Your device and use. A random device ID and a device key that secure your session; the app version; the country and language you choose; usage events (screens opened, features used) through Google Firebase Analytics, which also derives an approximate location from your IP address. We do not collect your precise location or your contacts, and we do not use the microphone.
• Reports. Bug reports you send us.

How we use it

To provide the service you asked for — reading and marking papers, publishing results to a class, answering your questions in Blue, keeping your work across your devices; to keep it secure and fair (session keys, usage limits); and, from usage events in aggregate, to improve the app. We do not sell personal information.

Who processes it for us

• Google Gemini and OpenAI — artificial-intelligence services that read exam photos and write Blue's answers. The app asks your permission, naming both, before the first photo is sent and before Blue's first answer, and keeps working if you choose «Not now».
• Google Cloud — stores photos and synced work (United States).
• Google Firebase — analytics, and registering the device for notifications.
• Hetzner — hosts our server (Germany). PlanetScale — our database (Germany).
• Cloudflare — protects and delivers network traffic.
• Google and Apple — sign-in.

Advertising

The app includes Google's advertising SDK (AdMob), but advertising is switched off: no ads are shown and the SDK does not start. Before we switch it on, we will update this page and both store listings.

Children

Students may be children. Teachers add their pupils' names and photograph their papers as part of teaching. A student can use the app without an account.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app — from the student Profile, or from My Account on the teacher side. That deletes your account, your synced work and your learning history, and, if you signed in with Apple, revokes the app's access at Apple. A teacher's classes, class lists, photographed papers and marks are not yet deleted automatically: email info@naseeh.io from your account's address and we will delete them. Deleted files stay recoverable in our storage for 7 days, then they are gone.

Changes

We post changes here with a new date. Any change to what is sent to AI services is also asked again inside the app.
